The Clay County Detention Center is also located on the premises of the sheriff’s office. To visit an inmate, you must make an appointment the week prior by calling 256-252-4687. Visitation is held on alternate weeks for males and females, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, in one-hour increments. All visitors must be on a pre-approved list. Inmates are limited to 2 visitors at a time.
