The Corrections Division is headed by Captain Jay Fondren and is located on the premises with the sheriff’s office. This facility has 500 beds and employs 65 correction officers. Inmates are allowed one visit per week, via video visits. Appointments for visits must be made via the website http://jailvisitor.com/. Visitation appointments are available for Tuesday – Thursday, from 7:20 pm to 9:35 pm, Saturday from 8:00 am to 11:25 am, and Sunday from 8:00 am to 9:35 pm. All visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

One of the other police departments is the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Birmingham, where Mike Hale is the sheriff. Approximately 1,000 inmates are housed daily between the two Jefferson County facilities. The Deputy Chief of Corrections is Cleveland Moore. The Sheriff’s Office includes patrol, criminal, and corrections divisions, along with offering resources to schools and courts.
