The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is the police department that serves the area, where Mark Levie Pettway is the sheriff. Divisions within the sheriff’s office include patrol, corrections, criminal investigations, court services, school resource officers, and internal affairs.

Approximately 1,000 inmates are housed daily between the two Jefferson County facilities. The Deputy Chief of Corrections is Cleveland Moore. The Sheriff’s Office includes patrol, criminal, and corrections divisions, along with offering resources to schools and courts.
