Hoover is a city located in both Jefferson and Shelby Counties in Alabama, near Birmingham. Birmingham is the County Seat of Jefferson County. Columbiana is the County Seat of Shelby County. The mayor of Homewood is Frank V. Brocato, and the population of the city is 81,619 people. City Hall is located on Municipal Lane.

Divisions within the department include field operations, administration, investigative services, and special operations. The Hoover City Jail is located on Valleydale Road, and the commander is Lieutenant Dusten Walker. Visitation is held on Sundays from 2pm to 4pm for male inmates and from 4pm to 5pm for female inmates.

One of the other police departments is the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Birmingham, where Mike Hale is the sheriff. Approximately 1,000 inmates are housed daily between the two Jefferson County facilities. The Deputy Chief of Corrections is Cleveland Moore. The Sheriff’s Office includes patrol, criminal, and corrections divisions, along with offering resources to schools and courts.
