The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office is another large police department in the area, and it’s located in Gadsden. The sheriff is Todd Entrekin. The sheriff’s office is divided into divisions, including detention, administration, enforcement, investigations, special units, and drug enforcement. There are approximately 38 deputies employed by the sheriff’s office.

The detention center is also located on the premises with the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, and the Chief Deputy of Detention is Scott Hassell. Visitation with inmates is from Sunday through Wednesday, between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm. All visitation is by video, and inmates may only have one visit per day, with a maximum of 2 visits per week. All visits require appointments, and the inmate is responsible for scheduling the visit.
