The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office is one of the larger police departments, and the office is run by Sheriff Scott Walls. The Sheriff’s Office is located in Guntersville, and department divisions include patrol, investigations, aviation, civil process, court, prisoner transport, communications, and the county jail. There is a jail on the premises, which houses approximately 200 inmates.

The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office is the the other large police department in the area, and the sheriff is Matt Gentry. Divisions within the sheriff’s office include command staff, patrol deputies, school resource officers, investigations, courthouse security, administration, the detention center and dispatch.

The Cullman County Detention Center is a 326-bed facility, located next to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office. Captain Floyd Lee is the Warden. The detention center also employs a number of deputies, correction officers, and clerks.
