The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of 30 employees provide various law enforcement services to the citizens of the community. Sheriff Richard Stringer is the head of the WCSO and functions as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in the county. Chief Deputy Deshone Holloway serves as the Sheriff’s second-in-command. He supervises the day-to-day operations of the entire department.

Washington County Jail Information

The Washington County Jail is a facility that houses inmates for the county as well as the towns of Chatom, Millry, and McIntosh. It has an average daily population of 80 inmates. Inmates at this facility are a labor source for the county, conducting trash collection on Washington county roads and assisting in projects for schools and the public library.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office maintains a list of all inmates currently housed in the county jail. The list contains the inmates’ names, booking date, bond amount, and charges.

Inmates in the Washington County Jail are allowed visitation. Only two individuals can be listed on an inmate’s visitation card. Each inmate is allowed one 15-minute visit per week. Visitation is head on Wednesdays from 1pm to 3pm. All visits must be scheduled by calling 251-847-2202 anytime between 8am to 4pm, Monday through Tuesday.
