Mobile County Jail Inmates

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Mobile County Metro Jail. This facility holds an average of 1,500 inmates per day. It also features a 325-bed minimum security barracks that houses prisoners who are put to work in order to earn their keep.

Inmates at the Mobile County Metro Jail are allowed visitation through the Video Visitation Program. All visits must be registered and scheduled at https://mobilecountyal.gtlvisitme.com. All visits must be scheduled at least 1 day in advance, but no more than a week in advance. Only approved visitors are allowed to visit. No more than 4 visitors are allowed per inmate. The schedule for visitation is as follows:

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for a full-time Corrections Officer. The position involves providing for the care and security of inmates in the county jail. Candidates will need to take a written test and undergo a background check. They must be at least 19 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent as well as a valid driver’s license.

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is the second largest law enforcement agency in the state. It employs over 600 individuals and is comprised of four divisions – administrative services, field operations, support services, and corrections. The head of the MCSO is Sheriff Sam Cochran who serves as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in the county. The Chief of Administrative Services is Chief Eddie Burrow while the head of Field Operations is Chief David Wilhelm.

Mobile County can be found in the southwestern corner of Alabama. It was named after a village of Chief Tuskaloosa, Maubila. The county seat is Mobile which is also the largest city in the area. According to the 2010 census, there are 412,992 people living in this area, making it the second most populated county in the state. The total area of the county is 1,644 square miles. The adjacent counties are Washington County (north), Baldwin County (east), Jackson County in Mississippi (southwest), George County in Mississippi (west), and Greene County in Mississippi (northwest).
