Cherokee County can be found in the northeastern region of Alabama. It was named in honor of the Cherokee tribe. The county seat is Centre which also happens to be the largest city in the area. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for providing law enforcement services to the community. Sheriff Jeff Shaver heads the CCSO and serves as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in the county. Chief Deputy Josh Summerford serves as the “Assistant Sheriff”, overseeing the daily operations of the entire department. The CCSO is comprised of several divisions including the Administration Division, Patrol, Criminal Investigation, Detention Center, and Court Security. The CID is led by Chief Investigator Michael Green. Lt. Bo Jolly heads the Patrol Division.
