The Corrections Division of the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Chilton County Jail. The facility can house a maximum 180 inmates and staffed by 25 highly trained correctional officers. It holds local, county, and state inmates that are either awaiting trial or have been sentenced to serve time in the county jail.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office has an online roster of inmates currently housed in the facility. Each inmate’s profile includes his/her physical description, admission date and time, confining agency, booking photo, and charge information.

The Chilton County Jail allows inmate visitation. All visits need to be scheduled by calling (205) 755-1053 on weekdays from 3pm to 7pm. All appointments are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Inmates are allowed up to 4 visits per visitation day. All visitors need to be on the inmate’s visitation list. Onsite visits are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:15am to 4pm. Remote visits are available daily from 7am to 10:30pm.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Applicants are required to have completed the minimum standards training from Alabama Peace Officers’ Standards and Training Commission (Apost). They must also receive a favorable background check.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency in the unincorporated areas of Chilton County. It also provides several law enforcement services to the whole county. These include criminal investigations, calls for service, and traffic enforcement. The head of the CCSO is Sheriff John Shearon. The second-in-command is Chief Deputy Gerald Mims. He serves as the primary liaison between the Division Commanders and the Sheriff. The Assistant Chief Deputy is Shane Mayfield. The Patrol Captain is Ken Harmon while the Corrections Division Commander is Captain Trae Barfield.
