The Jackson County Jail houses incarcerated individuals who are awaiting trial or transfer to the State of Alabama’s Department of Corrections, those who have been sentenced to serve time less than one year, and inmates who have been arrested by local municipal police departments. The facility can hold up to 208 inmates. The average daily population of the jail is 155. The head of the Jackson County Jail is Chief Warden Betsy Gentles.

The Jackson County Jail maintains an online database of all inmates currently housed in the facility. Each inmate’s profile includes the inmate’s complete name, booking photo, booking number, booking date, charges, bond, age, race, gender, address, and arresting agency.
All inmates at the Jackson County Jail are allowed visitation through the video monitoring system. Visits can be scheduled daily from 9am to 9pm, except on Fridays which is from 4pm to 9pm. Visits can be scheduled online through www.gettingout.com or by using the kiosk located in the jail lobby. Each inmate is allowed one free visit every 7 days. Additional visits cost $7.50 plus taxes and fees.
