Draper Correctional Facility is located in Elmore, Alabama. It was closed in the year 2018, but reopened in 2020 as a temporary quarantine site for inmates transitioning from county jails to state prisons in Alabama. The prison was opened in 1939 and eventually had a capacity of about 1200 inmates before it was closed. Since reopening, it has been used to hold inmates for a 14-day period quarantine for COVID-19 before transferring inmates to state prisons.
